NEW AMBASSADOR FOR VETERANS HOUSING SCOTLAND

Fife businessman John Jenkins has become an Ambassador for Veterans Housing Scotland, the charity that provides homes for disabled veterans in Scotland. John is semi-retired and during his successful career has made many contacts and helped many charities including Cystic Fibrosis.

He said: ‘Having attended VHS events and chatted with both the Chairman and the Chief Executive I have a good understanding and appreciation of what they do. I sometimes feel that no one seems to care about veterans, there is no safety net to help those who lose a limb for instance or find themselves homeless and it affects me deeply. I am delighted to be able to use my experience in the building industry to help Veterans Housing Scotland and look forward to many opportunities to share their wonderful story.’

Kevin Gray, VHS Chief Executive, added: ‘From the first time I met John it was clear how engaged he had become with the work we do and the challenges our beneficiaries face on a daily basis. It is a privilege for our charity that he has chosen to help us continue to build awareness of the fantastic work we do to support disabled veterans with housing and tenancy sustainment.’

I feel part of a broader family with the communication and support from Veterans Housing Scotland. I appreciate them keeping in touch and offering advice and updates as necessary.  A letter from the Chief Executive during the Covid-19 crisis was a nice touch and reassured us that help was available should any of us need it.
